HONORARY COACHES NAMED FOR 2008 CJHL PROSPECTS GAME

Two former National Hockey League players and coaches of the Summerside
Western Capitals will be behind the benches for the 2008 Canadian Junior
Hockey League Prospects game taking place later this month in Summerside.
Forbie Kennedy and Gerard Gallant, have been named as Honorary Coaches for
the showcase game of the best NHL draft eligible Canadian Junior Hockey
League players at Credit Union Place on December 17th.
Kennedy, a hard nosed forward who played in over 600 NHL games with
Chicago, Detroit, Boston, Philadelphia and Toronto will be behind the bench for
Team West. Kennedy, a fan favorite behind the bench, has a long history of
coaching Island junior Teams, most recently with the Summerside Western
Capitals to begin the 2007/08 season.
Gallant, a veteran of 615 games in the NHL, scoring 480 points on 211 goals and
269 assists with Detroit and Tampa Bay will be behind the bench for Team East.
Gallant's coaching resume includes leading the Summerside Western Capitals to
the Royal Bank Cup in 1997, along with serving as Head Coach of the Columbus
Blue Jackets and Assistant Coach of the New York Islanders.
The prospects showcase begins on December 16th at 7pm, with a skills
competition to determine the fastest skater, hardest shot, puck control skills and
shooting accuracy. The prospects game on December 17th begins at 7pm.
Tickets to the prospects game are $15 for adults and $10 for students and
children, skills competition tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and
children and a package to attend both events is $20 for adults and $13 for
